Events 2011
Events I attended in 2011
- Journal of an Entrepreneur – December 12, 2011, Arad.
- Journal of an Entrepreneur – December 6, 2011.
I reached the Capital and I visited a class at Mihai Viteazul High School. It was a very fun experience. - VentureConnect – November 23, 2011, Intercontinental Hotel.
Just like before, the autumn edition of Venture Connect brings face to face entrepreneurs in the tech field and potential investors from Romania and from the surrounding region. There are some new elements as opposed to previous editions that are meant to make the event more attractive. I hope to see innovative projects in November, from Romania and the surrounding region. - Journal of an Entrepreneur – November 21, 2011, Cluj-Napoca.
In Cluj I had the opportunity of explaining the concept of entrepreneurship to kids from the High School of Computer Sciences and from Emil Racovita National High School and in the afternoon I met a very strong community of local IT entrepreneurs. - Journal of an Entrepreneur – November 15, 2011, Brasov.
With Journal of an Entrepreneur, I reached Brasov where I went to Andrei Saguna High School and to the High School of Computer Sciences and in the afternoon (around 3.30 p.m., in Publick) I met a few IT entrepreneurs from the city. - How to Web – November 9, 2011, Crystal Palace Ballrooms, Bucharest.
Speaker in the panel related to financing a start-up. - BIZ Days – Entrepreneurship – November 7, 2011, Howard Johnson Hotel, Bucharest.
I attended BIZ Days, on the day dedicated to entrepreneurship, with Camelia Sucu, Mihaela Nicola, Marius Ghenea and Mihail Marcu on my side in the panel. We talked about intrapreneurship versus entrepreneurship, about how much failure helps and about how to think globally. - Journal of an Entrepreneur – October 5, 2011, Timisoara.
Within the framework of the project bearing this blog’s name, I had meetings in Timisoara with high school students from Colegiul Banatean High School and from Grigore Moisil High School of Computer Sciences, followed by an absolutely spectacular meeting with the local business community. - Journal of an Entrepreneur – September 28, 2011, Iasi.
I started a new project with the aim of bringing high school students closer to the concept of entrepreneurship. In September, I went to meet students from Negruzzi High School and from Racovita High School in Iasi. That same day, given that I was in town, I also met some local entrepreneurs and IT companies. The experience was very interesting and so was the feedback I received from young people and from local IT companies. - Business Magazin – The Most Admired CEOs – September 21, 2011, 7.00 p.m., Caro Hotel, Bucharest.
I had the honor of receiving, at the Business Magazin event, the prize for The Most Admired Entrepreneur. I would like to thank all of those who voted for me and I am very sorry I could not attend the Gala. I would also like to thank Business Magazin for the prize and I hope to meet you very soon. I respect the desire of emphasizing the positive aspects of the Romanian business environment. - New European Champions Day – July 21, 2011, 11.00 a.m., Warsaw School of Economics.
EFER does something sensational in considering that good quality entrepreneurship needs good quality training. So they offer training for entrepreneurship trainers. One of the elements of this training is to have trainers meet the 20 most valuable entrepreneurs of the year (the entrepreneurs EFER considers as such). Some very spectacular sessions follow. This year, I was honored to find myself among the 20 “European Champions”, with the founder of Fornetti, the CEO of LogMeIn, the people who created the company Macedoneana, company that made the animation for “Transformers 3”. Congratulations to Irina Socol for also having been among the Champions. - Venture Connect – June 20, 2011, 9.00 a.m., Intercontinental Hotel, Bucharest.
This is an event that is getting better and better and whose objective is to bring investors face to face with projects in need of investment. All sorts of investors participated (Angels, VC). The only sad part was that the two best projects were from outside Romania. Could it be that those Romanians with something to say were too shy to appear in public? - SEEPEA – Building Bridges Between Silicon Valley and South Eastern Europe – May 20, 2011, Bucharest.
I was happy to attend the event organized under Irina Anghel’s careful guidance, even if only through Skype this time. It was a very successful event, from what I hear, one of the few in the Investment sector that got together in the same room speakers from across the ocean, Romanian entrepreneurs, lawyers, representatives of investment funds but also of organizations such as Venture Connect that have been striving for some time to get entrepreneurs and investors at the same table. I can’t wait for the next edition of this event. And skyping at 2 a.m. from a hotel room was fun stuff 🙂 - Timisoara Business Days is an event I would have liked to attend. Unfortunately, business affairs “pushed” me out of the country between the 30th and the 31st of March 2011. For those who were there and not only, I’ve recorded a message and I’ve posted it here.
